The project is divided into three work packages (WP).

Firstly, the Geospatial Analysis WP will jointly analyse different spatial layers—such as land-use, land-cover, water basins, biodiversity, socio-ecological conflicts, demographic information, public policies, private commitments, and international agreements—to characterize the project’s focal research areas.

Secondly, the Governance and Participation WP will conduct fieldwork research and organize multistakeholder workshops to analyse initiatives that promote positive conservational outcomes in terms of forest cover. This fieldwork intends to engage with the actors that carry out activities with local impacts to understand the constraints and motivations for conserving or recuperating forest cover.

Finally, the Modelling WP will build on the previous steps to define the input criteria for a model that forecasts different scenarios, considering different levels of conservation and deforestation drivers.
